What Is Digital Proof of Delivery?

Digital proof of delivery (POD) explained: what it records, why businesses need it and how it protects you if a delivery is disputed.

What a digital POD records

A digital proof of delivery is the electronic record that a consignment was handed over. Ours captures:

  • The recipient's name and signature on the driver's device
  • A photo at the point of delivery
  • The date and time of delivery
  • The job reference, linked to your itemised invoice

Why businesses need it

If a customer says something never arrived, a POD settles it. It also gives your accounts team the paperwork they need to invoice your own customers with confidence.

Paper vs digital

Paper delivery notes get lost, smudged or left in the van. A digital POD is available straight after delivery and can be shared with your customer immediately.
